Who We AreAbout Get REALA collaboration between Public Health Management Corporation and Mazzoni Center, Get REAL implements a social marketing campaign designed to promote frank discussions about HIV/AIDS, safe sex and the overall health and well-being of black and white young men who have sex with men in Philadelphia and surrounding counties. A five-year study launched in 2005 and funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, Get REAL reaches young men between the ages of 15 and 29 using peer-based stories. With Get REAL’s community-level intervention style, outreach staff disseminates peer-based stories to the community in both gay and non-gay identified venues. The Get REAL program employs principles of behavioral journalism and an evaluation component to test the effectiveness of intervention. |
